Welcome
These
specially designed Roadshows will deliver a range of useful topics
for attendees.
Starting
with an overview of how to get the best from the Supply2.gov.uk
website and what to look out for in contract adverts, the Roadshows
will also deliver an insight into the most important issues to consider
when tendering. They will explain what to look out for in the documentation
you receive and will detail those areas of evaluation that are critical
to tendering success. Ideas for enhancing your submissions to make
them stand out will be offered, along with hints and tips about
areas such as presentations, site visits and debriefs.
It is also intended to have guest speakers from the public sector
at each event, offering advice on other areas of the public sector
market and providing helpful routes to market for companies looking
to develop their business with the public sector.
These Roadshows are a must for small and medium-sized businesses,
whether already using the Supply2.gov.uk service,
considering signing up or just looking for more information on the
public procurement market.
Supply2.gov.uk
– an open market
where any business, no matter
what size or type, can participate
Supply2.gov.uk
is the only official government lower-value contract opportunity
portal. Created by the Government, it is specifically designed to
give small businesses access to lower-value government contract
opportunities (typically below £100,000).
Launched in June 2006, the portal has already advertised in excess
of 90,000 contracts to SMEs throughout Scotland, England, Northern
Ireland and Wales.
Buyers
and suppliers are brought together for the first time, allowing
the portal to achieve its aim of being ‘the first portal of
call for lower-value business opportunities’.
As
a result of this success, the portal is recognised by both business
and government as a useful and effective tool, providing a route
to help small businesses thrive and grow.
Who
are BERR?
The
Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (BERR)
helps UK businesses succeed in an increasingly competitive world.
It promotes business growth and a strong enterprise economy, leads
the Better Regulation agenda and champions free and fair markets.
It is a shareholder in a number of government-owned assets and works
to secure clean and competitively priced energy supplies.
The Enterprise Strategy, published in 2008, featured a range of
measures to boost the number of small firms competing in the public
procurement marketplace. An independent review, headed by Anne Glover,
CEO of Amadeus Capital Partners, will look at ways to reduce barriers
that small businesses face when competing for public sector contracts
and the practicality of setting a goal for them to win 30 per cent
of public sector business within five years.
