UK - An exciting new business venture is launching this week on April 17th providing an essential opportunity for smaller North West companies to compete with major national firms in today's competitive market.

Your Essential Services Limited (Y.E.S.) is a Facilities Management enterprise, which brings together trusted local companies from landscapers to locksmiths and from cleaners to caretakers into one united delivery team -able to compete on an equal footing with large, commercially aggressive companies for property and building services contracts.

Y.E.S Ltd is the brainchild of four entrepreneurs who wanted to form a collaboration of businesses ensuring local SME's have a future in the business, building on their years of experience, personal devotion and best practice delivery to develop a strong customer base.

They are being assisted by the Knowledge to Innovate (K2i) programme, which helps the region's businesses assess and address innovation needs, improve competitiveness and make the most of opportunities with a free tailored programme of professional advice and support.

Directors Mark Spilling (Facilities Management UK Ltd), Andrew Fahey (Trendleway Cleaners Ltd), Chris Taylor (Chris Taylor Master Locksmiths) and Gary Collinson (Botanical Group Services Ltd) are all successful business people in their own right - but all had noted over recent years the increased competition from large facilities management companies offering perceived one stop shop solutions to organisations who are under continuing pressure to streamline their supply chain.

They decided to pool their resources with other like-minded companies, and now have a portfolio of over 30 specialist service providers, each leaders in their own respective fields and who all live up to not only their high delivery standards but also their values and principles, which include strong ethical and environmental codes of practice but able to deliver their services through a single point of contact.

K2i expertise has been highly instrumental in helping Y.E.S Ltd grow from an idea into an actuality.

Y.E.S. Ltd director Andrew Fahey says: "K2i were a great help to us while we were starting up. Their assistance guided us through the correct processes and encouraged us to really look at what was involved from legal procedures to defining our priorities and Code of Practice.

"Y.E.S. Ltd will act as a conduit and Contract Manager between customers and suppliers, giving local companies access to a wider customer base, shared resources and a valuable support network. Y.E.S.Ltd will only levy charges to pay business operating costs such as insurance, accounting and financial processing. No profit or management fees are applied.

"Each company must meet strict pre-qualification criteria to ensure they meet the high standards set by Y.E.S. and small companies will be offered assistance and mentoring to comply with industry and legislative requirements."

Director Mark Spilling enthuses: "Y.E.S. is great news for all concerned - an innovative business model which is helping local businesses to survive in an increasingly competitive environment, and provides customers with an excellent quality facilities management service using established reliable providers with many years experience behind them but with no limits to the scope of services offered.

"We are now located at One Central Park which is proving to be an excellent supportive environment for new start up companies such as ourselves."

Geoff Birkett, leading the Knowledge to Innovate programme, says: "We are delighted to be helping Y.E.S Ltd, which is an excellent example of how businesses need to think laterally and use innovation in order to survive in a changing market.

"North West businesses need to remain competitive and this is an excellent project which is making sure the region's SME's do not get left behind in a competitive field.

"K2i will continue to work with Y.E.S to grow and develop this model of collaborative innovation, assisting them to raise their profile with a strategic marketing plan and assuring many North West businesses of a sustainable future.

"Knowledge to Innovate is committed to ensuring that North West businesses realise their potential and do not get left behind. If your company has an innovative idea but needs support to see it through, then this is the project that can help."
