UK - The Department for Business announced that Martin Temple will
chair the Board which will oversee the Government's drive to simplify
government-funded support for businesses.
Martin Temple, current Chair of the manufacturers' organisation EEF, will take
up the position of Chair of the Transition Management Board for the Business
Support Simplification Programme (BSSP) this week.
The BSSP will reduce the number of business support schemes offered by the government
from 3000 to less than 100 by 2010. These changes, to be delivered through Business
Link, mean government-funded programmes will have more impact with the same resources.
Business Minister Shriti Vadera said:
"This is an important appointment to ensure delivery
of our commitment to simplify and ease the access of our support for growing
businesses. I am confident Martin's long experience and perspective from businesses
using business support will be invaluable."
