Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service serves a geographical area of 208 square miles in the North East of England, and a population of just over one million. We have 40 fire engines based at 17 fire stations and employ over 1300 staff comprising principally of firefighters and other specialist support staff.
The Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service Procurement Departments primary responsibility is attaining value for money by means of effective procurement of goods and services throughout the organisation. Main areas of expenditure include fire engines, equipment, buildings, clothing and ICT.
